100th anniversary camporee
On Saturday 09 Oct our pack went to the scouts 100th anniversary camporee at the Milan drag way. We practiced our archery and BB gun skills (since those are in great demand here in Ann Arbor) for quite a while. We also painted gliders, made silly bugs, and ran the obstacle course. We had lunch under some oak trees that kept pelting Sister Wierschke with acorns. Adam, Ethan, and Sister Wright got to see a fox in the field. After lunch we hit the archery range again - never know when that will come in handy. Then the fire department did a jaws-of-life demonstration, and Carsten photographed it for us. Next we headed to the inflatable jumping structures which we have no pictures of, but Ethan can no doubt describe in great detail due to the dozens of times he went on them. The final part of our day was spent playing games. In honor of the 100 years there were some old fashioned ones (Lizard leap and Chicken stew) and more high tech (monster car racing, robotics, and simulators). We all came home happy and exhausted.

Scio Woods Preserve
On Saturday our cub scouts had a service activity at Scio Woods Preserve. We helped pick some invasive plants (Dames Rocket and Garlic Mustard). The boys did a great job. After the weeding we had some snacks and took a great walk through the preserve. We found butterflies, a snake, toads, and frogs. A big thank you to Shawn Severance from the County Parks service. She helped us have a fun and educational day.

The boys are supposed to bring a collection of 100 things (i.e., rocks, stamps, stickers, etc.). This passes off an achievement for them and is also providing centerpieces.
